“Leadership seems to be the marshalling of skills possessed by a majority but used by a minority. But it is something that can be learned by anyone, taught to everyone, denied to no one.” Warren Bennis

It is an exciting privilege to introduce the Transformational Leadership course to you. The course aims to equip and enable a new generation of transformational leaders throughout an organisation or local church to meet the challenge of a new millennium. Yogi Berra had it right, in his often quoted remark, that “the future ain’t what it used to be.” A new style of leader is required, a leader who is a facilitator, not an autocrat; an appreciator of ideas, not a defender of them; one who makes things right, not does things right.
All men dream; but not equally.
Those who dream in the dusty recesses of their minds
Awake to find that it was vanity;
But the dreamers of day are dangerous men,
That they may act their dreams with open eyes to make it possible.
T.E. Lawrence
Becoming a leader is not easy, just as becoming a lawyer or poet is not easy, and anyone who claims otherwise is fooling himself or herself. But learning to lead is a lot easier than most of us think it is, because each of us possesses the capacity for leadership. Right now there are untold numbers of potential leaders – men and women who are full of passion for the promises of God, with no outlets for their passion. As an undiscovered or underdeveloped leader you have a rich and powerful contribution to make to a church in desperate need of your talents and gifting. Ultimately, becoming a leader is a personal process of transformation. We all choose our way of getting there. The transformational leadership course is there to assist you and your church on that journey.
Is this programme for your church or organisation?
The course is designed to equip and enable leaders & potential leaders, at all levels within the local church, that desire to move to the next level.
Programme content
The modular programme concentrates on key aspects of leadership skills, but treats these in an integrated way. The curriculum is designed to provide the student with a broad understanding of the tools and dynamics associated with transformational leadership.
1. Transformational leadership Part 1 & 2
This module explores how and why people perform as effective leaders. As David Crosby stated “People perform to the standards set and attained by their leader.” The transformational skills of managing oneself, other individuals and teams are investigated.
2. The Character of a leader
There is often a gap between what we believe is right and the actions we take. In this module we examine the integrity gap that besets many leaders and explore biblical strategies to overcome specific areas of challenge and temptation.
3. Team Building
These seminars explore; the ingredients of a healthy team, team development, team purpose, team leadership, integrated thinking, empowerment and managing change through team working.
4. Communicating Vision
It was Walt Disney who said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” The idea is exciting, but nonetheless incomplete. Many people have rich and deeply textured agendas, but without communication nothing can be realised. These seminars will teach you how to capture the imagination and support of others.
5. Exploring Strategy Part 1 & 2
In this module we examine strategic thinking and the management of change. The seminar explores what it takes for leaders to translate their vision into action.
6. Personal Development Programme
An opportunity to engage in a self-learning activity designed to enhance your personal competence as a leader. The programme is tailored to your individual situation and based on a diagnostic process that identifies your leadership development needs.
