Organisational Design

From dispute to harmony

In my work in developing teams and conducting organisational reviews, I often encounter key employees and volunteers who are involved in a long standing and/or serious conflict that can be damaging to themselves, their colleagues and the organisation. In such circumstances third party mediation can be very effective at resolving conflict and restoring good working relationships.

In my experience, a beneficial intervention for both churches & organisations who have entered a season of growth is an Organisational Design review. Often people who have effectively functioned and delivered struggle in the context of expansion and change. Often these individuals can be found in key roles, who having brought the church or organisation to its current level, have now become a barrier to the current and future development. An Organisational Design Review can help you address these issues in a safe and healthy environment that can deliver positive results.  This process focuses on the future structure of the organisation and the roles, responsibilities and key deliverables for individuals in key roles.

When to use mediation?

Providing all parties are willing to participate in the process, mediation can be effective in a wide range of conflicts. Factors that often feature in conflicts include roles and responsibilities, abuse of power, management of change, mergers, and cultural conflicts.
